Would any noise or large explosions in outter space appear like watching TV with the sound turned off?

Just about every hollywood movie has some versions of explosion sounds for outter space. Alright I'm not trying to ruin it for you movie buffs but seriously, think about it. Only sounds are signals that travel through the vacuum of space. Human ears can't hear that. Would a fire cracker make a popping noise in a vacuum chamber?. I digress, just answer my mian question.
