Does anybody else do this with a revolver?

I was taught to carry a revolver with the hammer resting on an empty chamber just as a safety precaution. I fully understand that with modern revolvers this isn't necessary but I still do it. My family shoots in SASS cowboy shooting competitions and we aren't allowed to load but 5 of the cylinders as an added safety measure. I caught quite a bit of hate for stating this recently so I'm just curious is there is anybody else who carries on an empty chamber?
