Modded Recon CS-6 Nerf Gun Doesn't Shoot Very Far?

Hi everyone. I recently modded a perfectly good CS-6 nerf gun and it doesn't shoot very far (about less than 7 feet). I took out the air restrictor in a weird way. I didnt have a drill, so I used this kitchen utensil that looked like a screwdriver and tried to force it out. That wouldn't work, so then I heated it up really high on the stove, and I eventually burned it out after that it looked like a perfectly good air chamber (except for little particles of ash), so I put everything back together all happy. It shot way less than before I did anything with it. Please no bull answers. Thanks :D
